Hyderabad Police arrests Nigerian drug peddler with cocaine worth Rs. 6.7 Lakhs

Nigerian Drug Peddler arrested

HYDERABAD: On credible information, Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW) and Film Nagar Police apprehended Nigerian drug peddler Okaro Cosmos Ramsey, also known as Andy. They seized 16 grams of cocaine, a Hyundai I20 car (Br. No. TS 07 JG 7222), two cell phones, and ₹20,000 in cash, all totaling a worth of ₹6.7 lakhs.

Okaro Cosmos Ramsey, aged 38, originally from Nigeria and residing in Shaikpet, Hyderabad, had previously been arrested twice. In 2016, Golconda PS Police arrested him with Abraham Jacob Ukoha for possessing cocaine. After getting bail, Ramsey procured cocaine from a Nigerian contact in Bangalore named Obasi and began drug peddling in Hyderabad. In 2018, Golconda Excise Police arrested him again for cocaine drug peddling.

Case and seizure details of drug peddler

In the present case, Nigerian drug peddler, Ramsey procured cocaine from his friend Obasi, who supplied drugs in exchange for cash. Ramsey resold the drugs to pre-identified consumers using virtual numbers and encrypted apps like Telegram to maintain anonymity and evade police surveillance. Acting on credible information, the HNEW team apprehended Ramsey and seized the drugs from his possession.

Police have seized 16 grams of cocaine valued at ₹4 lakhs, a Hyundai I20 vehicle, two mobile phones, and ₹20,000 in cash. HNEW has noticed an increase in drug abuse and addiction, causing serious damages to both families and society. Ms. S. Rashmi Perumal, Deputy Commissioner of Police, HNEW, supervised the arrests. The operation involved K. Srinivas, Inspector, G.S. Daniel, Inspector of Police HNEW, C. Venkata Ramulu, SI of Police, and HNEW staff, along with M. Srinivasulu, SHO, and Film Nagar Police Station staff. The combined efforts led to the successful apprehension of the accused and the seizure of illegal substances and items.
