TGSRTC announces free bus to baby

Hyderabad : Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) felicitated the conductor, R Saroja who helped deliver a baby girl on a bus. TGSRTC MD VC Sajjanar along with other higher officials met with the conductor and commended her for service to the lady. Further the TGSRTC has also provided the conductor a special gift acknowledging her service.

Further, as a birthday gift, the TGSRTC announced a lifetime free bus pass to the baby girl born on the bus. It is a norm in the TGSRTC to offer a lifetime free bus pass to the children who accidentally born on the Road Transport Corporation(RTC) buses. Continuing the same, the child born on the bus recently was also given the perk.

How the incident unfolded?

Going into the details, a woman, Shwetha Ratnam got into a bus belonging to the Musheerabad depot in the 1Z route on Friday morning. Swetha Ratnam got into the bus at Aramghar and by the time she reached Bahadurpura, the delivery pains had intensified. The conductor on board, R Saroja was alert and with the help of other fellow women passengers, helped the women deliver a baby the natural way. She delivered a baby girl.

Following the delivery, the patient was taken to the government Maternity hospital nearby and the daughter and the mother are put in safe hands under doctors supervision. TGRTC MD hailed the alertness and the timely response of the conductor. And said, “It is commendable to see RTC staff involved in such service oriented activities.”

Earlier, two weeks ago, a similar incident happened in Karimnagar bus depot as well. A migrant labor delivered a baby in Karimnagar bus station with the help of a bus station staff. Acknowledging the same, the Transport Minister, Ponnam Prabhakar Reddy felicitated the station depot staff, for their timely service and a reward of Rs.5000 was also given to each of them who were involved in the process of delivery.
