Former Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee President Dharmapuri Srinivas passes away at 76
Hyderabad: Senior politician and former Congress president of united Andhra Pradesh, Dharmapuri Srinivas (76), passed away on June 28 (Saturday) in the early morning. Born on September 27, 1948, Srinivas had been battling serious health issues for some time.
Dharmapuri Srinivas’s mortal remains will be transferred from the hospital at 9 a.m. today to his residence in Banjara Hills, MLA Colony, where they will be kept for public viewing until 2 p.m.
D. Srinivas’s son, Nizamabad MP Arvind Dharmapuri, who is currently in Delhi for Parliament meetings, is expected to arrive in Hyderabad late afternoon. Subsequently, at 2 p.m., DS’s body will be shifted to Nizamabad to allow people and supporters to pay their respects. Sources said that the last rites will occur in his constituency, Nizamabad, on Sunday afternoon. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy directed State Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari to conduct Srinivas’s last rites with full State honors. Former PCC President D. Srinivas (DS) will be laid to rest with State honors.

Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed his condolences, saying, “I am deeply saddened by the demise of former minister and ex-president of PCC, Dharmapuri Srinivas. He played a pivotal role in the Congress party, serving as PCC president in united Andhra Pradesh, and made significant contributions. Rising from humble beginnings to great heights, he was a role model for many political leaders. During the Telangana movement, he left an indelible mark on Congress politics. May his soul rest in peace.”
Union Minister Kishan Reddy mourned the loss of senior politician and former minister of united Andhra Pradesh, Dharmapuri Srinivas. “His long political career was marked by dedicated public service. His tenure in the Assembly from 2004 to 2009 is particularly memorable. My deepest condolences to BJP MP Arvind Gari and other family members,” said Kishan Reddy.
Deputy CM Batti Vikramarkamallu, Minister of Transport and BC Welfare Ponnam Prabhakar, and other ministers expressed their condolences over the demise of former APPCC president and minister Dharmapuri Srinivas.
