Mallepally ATC: Telangana sets Rs 2,324 Crore to Upskill Youth

Hyderabad: With the aim of upskilling the Telanagna’s youth, the state government is slated to spend Rs 2,324.21 crore for modernization of Industrial training Institutes (ITIs) and upgrade. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is all set to lay the foundation stone for Advanced Technology Centers(ATC) at Mallepally ITI Center on Tuesday.

Telangana state Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy decided to upgrade the ITIs as Advanced Technology Centers(ATCs) to hone the skills of the youth and meet the growing Industrial needs(Industry 4.0) of skilled manpower. The ATCs will not only offer training in various courses but also act as skill development centers. The ATCs will also play the dual role of Technology Centers (Technology Hub) for aspiring entrepreneurs in small, micro, medium and large scale industries.

The government already entered into a 10 years of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tata Technologies Limited (TTL) to upgrade 65 ITIs as ATCs in the state. The total cost of the project to convert ITIs into ATCs will be Rs 2,324.21 crores. State government will contribute Rs.307.96 crores (13.26 percent). While TTL’s share is Rs.2016.25 crores (86.74 percent).

Four Lakh youth set to be trained

In a note released by the officials, it is said, “The Chief Minister is determined to promote Telangana as the destination for skilled youth force for employment generation.Training will be provided to the Youth in ATCs to meet the requirements of Industry. For this, advanced equipment and technology will be installed in ATCs. TTL already employed 130 experts to impart training for youth in ATCs.”

As against the 1.5 lakh people who have been provided training in ITIs in the last ten years during the BRS regime, these ITI now being turned into ATC would provide training to four lakh youth in the coming ten years. TTL already roped in 130 experts to impart training for youth in ATCs.
