Sudden rains hit Hyderabad, officials warn not to step out of homes

Hyderabad:Once again the city of Hyderabad is drenched in sudden and unseasonal rains with heavy winds and thunderstorms on Thursday. Officials have advised the residents not to come out of their homes in this rain. The Hyderabad city, as of 4pm has recorded a rainfall of 51.3mm of rainfall and is expected to increase further by the night.

Several parts of the city including, Khairatabad, Qutubullapur, Balanagar, Shaikpet, Serilingampally, Malkajgiri, Alwal, Secunderabad and others have received more than 30mm of rain fall in each area, as per the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS).

Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy instructed the officials to be alert. According to the sources, the CM has interacted with all the concerned officials and instructed them to take necessary action in terms of rain, so that the general public do not face difficulties.

Meanwhile, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner, Ronald Ross has also instructed the citizens not to come out of their homes, until necessary. And the municipal staff was asked to clear the inundation in the low-lying areas as soon as possible. Further it was also instructed to clear the complaints as they come from the public. “People who are leaving their offices should wait for a while and then come out,” said Ronald Ross, GHMC.

Ground level GHMC staff swung into action, trying to clear the areas affected with rains, while the rains are continuing in most of the parts.

Uppal Stadium drenched in rains ahead of IPL Match

The Uppal Stadium is all set to host the Indian Premier League(IPL) match between SunRisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans on Thursday is also now covered with rain sheets as the heavy rain started pouring in. Meanwhile, several fans of IPL, who have already assembled for the match, are also soaking in rain in the queue lines.
