Hygiene concerns surge as garbage piles up around Ayush office in Secunderabad

SECUNDERABAD: The area around the Government Office of Ayush Telangana in Secunderabad was seen filled with garbage and waste on Thursday. This raised several concerns and questions about how they can maintain cleanliness throughout the city when the surroundings of government offices are not clean.

The video, captured by a social activist, is now going viral. It shows the entire street filled with garbage. This is troubling because the offices of the Telangana authority reportedly lack proper maintenance and hygienic surroundings, a situation that is both shocking and concerning to citizens.

While speaking to the Hyderabad Mail, Sai Teja, the social activist, expressed his deep disappointment, “The entire street of the Ayush Telangana office is a sight of garbage and a peeing spot for many men. It’s a government office, which is also related to a health office. We expect some cleanliness and neatness, but instead, we’re met with a pile of garbage and a terrible stench that engulfs the entire street.”

Ayush’s office is only 50 metres away from the Regional Passport Office. People expect a certain level of cleanliness. Every year on October 2nd, we celebrate Swachh Bharat, but for the rest of the year, we leave it as it is. The social activist emphasised the importance of maintaining cleanliness every day of the year, not just on that particular day.

“Both officials and citizens are making mistakes by not doing their part and keeping the area clean. Dustbins or garbage collection vans should be arranged, and the area should be cleaned regularly to resolve the issue. We can also see drainage overflowing, and with the monsoon season approaching, viral diseases can easily spread. I hope officials will keep the area clean and take measures to prevent it from being spoiled,” said Sai Teja.

“I have lodged multiple complaints about this issue, and I hope the authorities will respond and take immediate action,” stated Sai Teja.
