Hyderabad Task Force raids illegal hookah parlour in Panjagutta, nine held

Hyderabad: Acting on credible information, the Commissioner’s Task Force, West Zone Team, raided a hookah parlour disguised as “Miami Galley Cafe” within the Panjagutta Police Station limits and arrested nine people on June 28 (Friday).

The apprehended individuals, identified as Mohd Abdul Lathif Khan (25), Madde Shyam Sunder (36), Mohd Ashwaq (35), Mohd Aslam (34), Nand Kishore Dhan (23), Malya Kumar Dhan (25), Deepak Saahoo (20), Altaf Reza (25), and Rani Khosla (22), were handed over to the Panjagutta Police Station for further investigation.

The establishment was found to be operating illegally, violating established regulations. Authorities seized hookah-making materials, including 28 hookah flavour boxes, 48 hookah pots and pipes, 36 chimneys and electric heaters, seven tongs, 200 hookah filters, four coal boxes, two rolls of silver foil, seven swiping machines and payment scanners, two walkie-talkies with chargers, and Rs. 2,670 in cash. The total value of the seized items is estimated at Rs. 1,02,000.

A case was registered under the crime number 641/2024 u/s 188, 273 IPC,4,20 (2) COPT Act.

The raid, led by Inspector of Police E. Jangaiah, Sub-Inspectors N. Ranjith Kumar, G. Naveen, and B. Arvind Goud, along with their team, arrested nine individuals, including owners, employees, and fifteen customers.
