Narcotics Enforcement Wing crack down on ganja network, seizes 155 KG

Hyderabad : On the occasion of Bonalu celebrations at the Balkampet temple, the Hyderabad Traffic has issued an advisory for the devotees in order to reduce the traffic congestion.

In an official note given by the Traffic police, it is said that “Balkampet Yellamma Kalyanam at Yellamma Pochamma Devasthanam, Balkampet will be held from July 8, 2024 to July 10, 2024. Large number of devotees will attend the Kalyanotsavam on July 9, 2024 and Rathotsavam on July 10, 2024. Moderate traffic congestion is expected due to devotees and their vehicles on the streets and in and around Yellamma Temple, Balkampet. The commuters are advised to take the following roads and avoid movement towards Balkampet Yellamma Temple.” Further diversion points for the general public are also released for the above said dates

Traffic from Green lands, Matha Temple, Satyam Theatre going towards Fateh Nagar will be diverted at SR Nagar T Junction towards SR Nagar Community Hall – Abilasha Towers – B.K Guda X Road – Towards Sriram Nagar X road – Sanath Nagar /Fateh Nagar Road.

Traffic coming from Fateh Nagar flyover and proceeding towards Balkampet will not be allowed and will be diverted at New Bridge towards Katta Mysamma Temple, Begumpet.

Traffic coming from Green Lands – Bakul Apartments – Food World will not be allowed towards Balkampet and will be diverted at Food World X roads towards Sonabai Temple – Satyam Theatre – Maitrivanam / SR Nagar T Junction.

Traffic coming from Begumpet, Katta Mysamma Temple and going towards Balkampet will not be allowed and it will be diverted towards Green lands – Matha Temple – Satyam Theatre – SR Nagar T Junction left turn to SR Nagar Community Hall.

It is to be noted that the bylanes and link roads from SR Nagar ‘T’ junction to Fateh Nagar will remain closed.

Further, devotes can park their vehicles at R & B Office near SR Nagar T Junction, GHMC ground near Food world X Road, Padma Shree to Nature Cure Hospital Road side parking, Nature Cure Hospital Parking, Parking under Fateh Nagar Railway bridge.

The Traffic police have requested the devotees to park their vehicles at the designated parking places only in an orderly fashion. The commuters are also requested to take alternative routes to reach their destinations to avoid traffic congestion. All devotees and commuters are requested to follow this traffic advisory and cooperate with the Hyderabad Traffic Police.

Hyderabad: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence(DRI) officials of Hyderabad Zonal Unit apprehended two passengers traveling in a bus for indulging in smuggling foreign origin Gold on Sunday. The DRI officials have seized foreign origin gold worth over Two crores from passengers’ possession.

Going further into the details, acting on specific intelligence regarding movement of smuggled foreign origin gold from Kolkata by bus, the officers of DRI apprehended two persons who were travelling in a bus from Kolkata to Hyderabad on Saturday.

When frisked the officials found foreign origin gold , “the smuggled gold was cleverly concealed in a cloth waistband worn by the two persons. Gold totaling 3982.25 grams valued at Rs.2,89,90,780 was identified from the passengers’ possession,” said the apex anti-smuggling agency of India in an official statement.

Subsequently DRI officials seized foreign origin gold and the passengers were arrested
under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962 and remanded to judicial custody. Further investigation to identify the network is in progress.

“Gold smuggling has ceased to be a purely economic offence with the commodity being used in multiple illicit activities. Smuggling of gold not only impacts the indirect tax collections, but also adversely impacts the direct tax collections and feeds the parallel economy of the country. Being a high-value low-volume item, it is used as an excellent currency for money laundering as well” said DRi IN its smuggling in India report 2022-23.

Further the report added, Percolation of foreign origin gold through Indo-Bangladesh border is also a significant problem.Once the gold crosses the international border, the next activity of these gangs is to push the same into flourishing gold markets like Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi etc. This movement happens by all possible routes i.e. railways, roads and air. Often, foreign origin gold is defaced immediately after crossing the international border and then carried into the hinterlands.

“Use of domestic courier agencies to carry smuggled gold has also been unearthed by DRI during recent times. Concealment in various articles is also practiced profusely so as to hoodwink the law enforcement agencies” said DRI in its report.

Hyderabad: The Indian Meteorological Department(IMD) has issued a yellow warning for the state of Telangana and predicted a heavy rainfall in the next two days in several parts of the state. IMD had released a mid-day forecast for the upcoming seven days and issued a warning and forecast in connection with the weather change. Meanwhile, a yellow warning was issued for Hyderabad city on July 9, 2024. The change in the weather is due to the circulation in the Bay of Bengal on the southern Andhra Pradesh coast.

The rains are likely to begin in a light to moderate tone today, i,e on July 7, 2024 and would continue for the next seven days. However, in the next few days, one has to brace for heavy rainfall.

As per the weather forecast and warnings issued by the IMD for July 7, it read, “Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty winds very likely to occur at isolated places in Mancherial, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Rajanna Sircilla, Peddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Siddipet, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Ranga Reddy Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Wanaparthy, Narayanpet, Jogulamba Gadwal districts of Telangana.”

Heavy rains for two days

Meanwhile in the next two days, heavy rain is predicted, “Heavy rain very likely to occur at isolated places in Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Mulugu, Warangal, Hanmakonda, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Medak, Kamareddy, Mahabubnagar, Nagarkurnool districts of Telangana. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (30-40kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places in all districts of Telangana.” Similar warning was also issued on the next day, i.e., for the July 9, 2024 as well

However, by July 10 to July 12, 2024, the heavy rains are likely to subside and the state might receive light to moderate rain or thundershowers. “Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds very likely to occur at isolated places in Adilabad, Nirmal, Nizamabad, Jagiral, Rajanna Sircilla, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Hanmakonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, MEdak, Kamarddy districts of Telangana”
