Narcotics Enforcement Wing crack down on ganja network, seizes 155 KG

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW) conducted a joint operation with Kanchanbagh, Asifnagar, and Habeebnagar police stations. Police apprehended ganja suppliers, transporters, and peddlers, seizing 155 KG of ganja, a Scorpio vehicle, a passenger auto, and nine mobile phones. All the seized items valued at Rs. 61 lakhs. The operation followed credible information leading to the arrest of eight accused individuals.

Details of the operation and arrests

The first case was registered at Asifnagar PS. The second case was registered at Habeebnagar PS, Hyderabad. The third case was registered at Kanchanbagh PS. All these cases are registered under NDPS Act 1985.

The interstate ganja supplier, Manajit Dhali alias Jitu, from Malkangiri, Odisha, was previously arrested for supplying large quantities of ganja. His associates, Anil Dhanaji Ghante, Sushanth Mistry, Sumanth Mandal, and Prasanjith Mistry, all from Malkangiri, Odisha, were also apprehended. They have a history of involvement in large-scale ganja supply and are facing trials in multiple cases.

Ganja transporter and local supplier

Chinna Rathod Govind from Sanga Reddy District transported the ganja. He was previously arrested by Maredumilli Police in East Godavari District. The local ganja supplier, S. Lakhan Singh alias Goru, from Mangalhat, Hyderabad, is a known rowdy sheeter. He has been involved in several bodily offenses and NDPS cases and is currently facing trials. Lakhan Singh procured ganja from Manajit Dhali and supplied it to sub-peddlers in Hyderabad, earning significant profits.

The local ganja peddler, G. Devraj Singh alias Kalu, from Asifnagar, Hyderabad, was also apprehended. The seized materials included 155 kilograms of ganja, a white Scorpio vehicle, a passenger auto, and nine mobile phones.

The police appeal to the public to refrain from substance abuse and advise parents to monitor their children’s activities. The Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (HNEW) requests any information on drug abuse to be reported at 8712661601. The aim is to secure a drug-free Hyderabad.

The arrests were made under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner of Police YVS. Sudheendra, along with inspectors K. Srinivas, G.S. Daniel, C. Venkata Ramulu, and staff from HNEW, and SHOs G. Shekar Reddy, T. Ram Babu, and G. Venkateshwarlu from Kanchanbagh, Habeebnagar, and Asifnagar police stations.
