Mirchowk police arrest daily wage laborer for property offense, seize Rs. 14.5 Lakh

MIRCHOWK: Mirchowk police station apprehended 23-year-old daily wage laborer Punpun Doley for committing a property offense and seized Rs. 14,50,000 and an iron bar measuring 2.5 feet from his possession.

The offender, identified as Punpun Doley, a 23-year-old daily wage laborer working at Zam Zam Fasteners in Noorkhan Bazar, Hyderabad.

According to the police, on February 7, 2024, during the absence of the complainant, Mohd Ahmed Hussain, a businessman, Doley took advantage of the situation. He used an iron bar to break the lock, then went from the penthouse to the ground floor, lifted the shutter, and entered the office room of Ahmed Hussain.

He forcefully opened the top drawer of the main counter table, taking Rs. 14,50,000 and putting it in his backpack before escaping through the broken small exit gate

This incident occurred while 31-year-old Mohd Ahmed Hussain was finishing up at his shop on the ground floor of the same building. After closing for the day, Hussain went home, unaware of the impending theft.

The next day, when Hussain returned to open his shop, he found a significant amount missing from the cash counter. Suspecting an inside job, with Punpun being the prime suspect due to his access and knowledge of the premises, Hussain quickly filed a complaint.

On February 8, 2024, based on reliable information, Mirchowk Police arrested Punpun Doley in Chiragpally, Zaheerabad District, and successfully recovered the stolen Rs. 14,50,000.

Punpun Doley has been working at Zam Zam Fasteners in Noorkhan Bazar, Hyderabad, for the past six months while secretly living in the shop’s penthouse.
He meticulously observed Hussain’s daily routine and office layout and planned the theft. After the theft, Doley fled to his hometown, thinking he could evade suspicion, and had planned to spend the stolen money on luxury items.

The accused was arrested by N. Dilip Kumar, under the supervision of P. Sai Chaitanya, Shaik Jahangir, Venkateshwar Rao, and R. Ravinder, at Mirchowk Police Station.

P. Sai Chaitanya, Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Zone Hyderabad, commended R. Ravinder, Inspector of Police, Mirchowk, and Detective Inspector of Police, along with their dedicated crime staff, for their exemplary efforts in apprehending the accused and recovering the stolen property intact.
