Hyderabad Sees Heavy Traffic Jams Following Unseasonal Rains

Hyderabad: With a heavy downpour, the Hyderabad city came to a grinding halt on Tuesday evening. While on one side, the rain might have brought some respite from the heat waves, but on the other side, the rain has caused heavy traffic jams, inundated areas accompanied by power cuts. Traffic jams were reported at several locations including Kondapur, Hitech city and Gachibowli, from where most of the city IT folks return from work.

The torrential rains have also forced the Cyberbad traffic police to restrict the traffic movement and issue an advisory. Cyberabad Traffic Police, on their X account said the traffic movement is slow at Kothaguda Flyover, Hitex, Cyber towers, IKEA,Cyber Towers, COD, BioDiversity, Khajaguda. Further the citizens were requested to avoid these routes and plan their travel accordingly.

Hyderabad Rains hashtag trends top

Several users took it to social media, to showcase the traffic chaos that Hyderabad Rains created in a span of a couple of hours. With this, the hashtag HyderabadRains shooted to the top on X as well.

Users reported that they have been stuck in the traffic jams for more than two hours, as the vehicles were unable to move any further due to inundation at low lying areas. A X (formerly twitter) user, Sunil K posted that “Struck Since past two hours at Kondapur. People cannot even walk and very bad traffic management.”

Another user Nikhil posted in X and tagged Chief minister Revanth Reddy and said, “Dear @revanth_anumula sir, please find a solution for this. It’s just summer rain. The roads are filled with water and traffic is stuck and most of the people traveling through bikes are facing worse situations and even there is no way for an ambulance”.

As the downpour started in the city during noon hours in some parts and spread to the overall city by evening. This rainfall accompanied by traffic jams made the lives of commuters returning to houses a hell.
