Cabinet meeting got postponed on Saturday
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has decided five days back to conduct a cabinet meeting to discuss certain important matters related to state. Following this, CS Santi Kumari wrote a letter to ECI asking permission to held cabinet meeting in the Telangana state.
The cabinet meeting, which is scheduled on Saturday, got postponed as the permission from ECI has not yet granted at that time. This permission request was made on May 16th by Chief Secretary Santi Kumari. Revanth Reddy along with his cabinet ministers and colleagues waited till evening for the permission. As they didn’t got any response from ECI, Revanth Reddy and others left secretariat at 7 PM on Saturday.
The Chief Minister was unhappy with the Election Commission of India’s lack of response regarding urgent farmer matters. The state is preparing to celebrate its 10th formation day on June 2 and the Chief Minister also wants to discuss matters related to the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act.
Why permission is required from ECI
As Model Code of Conduct is in force in the state, it is mandatory to take permission from the ECI to held any cabinet meetings by the Telangana government.
