Hyderabad police arrests most wanted habitual offender

Hyderabad Police Arrest Notorious Thief, Solve Eight House Break In Cases.

HYDERABAD: The sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force Central Zone team of Hyderabad have arrested a most wanted habitual HB offender along with his associate, detected eight house break-in (property theft) cases, and recovered stolen property from their possession on Wednesday.

The accused have been identified as Ratlavath Shankar Naik, alias Rajesh Reddy, a 31-year-old habitual offender from Thummukunta, NagarKurnool, and Bandravalli Rakesh, alias Raki, a 21-year-old resident of Vanasthalipuram.

Police seized material worth Rs. 6,70,000—gold ornaments weighing about 80 grams, silver ornaments weighing about 25 grams, one Yamaha Fascino two-wheeler, and three cell phones—from their possession. Police detected that several cases were registered against these accused.

Going into the details, Deputy Commissioner of Police S. Rashmi Perumal said that the accused (A1), Rathlavath Shanker Naik, has been involved in house break-ins and property theft cases for the last 12 years. In 2012, he was reportedly arrested by Gadwal Police in an attempt to murder. Later, he got addicted to all sorts of bad vices, like consuming alcohol and ganja. In 2012, he started committing theft of property offenses.  He was arrested in several property theft cases and bike theft cases in Hyderabad, Cyberabad, Rachakonda, Mahaboob Nagar of Telangana, Vijayawada, Guntur, and Ongole of Andhra Pradesh state in over 80 cases.

Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda Police Commissionerate also invoked the PD Act four times against him previously. His MO includes scouting locked houses while riding a motorcycle at night and using specific tools to break into the house to commit theft. Later, he disposed of the property using pre-identified receivers, said the police.

The second accused Bandravalli Rakesh (A2) is a habitual bike theft offender, previously arrested in 26  criminal cases. In jail, he got acquainted with the accused Ratlawath, and after his release from jail, he started associating with A1 to dispose of stolen property.

The apprehensions were made under the supervision of Inspector N. Ramakrishna, Inspector of Police SI D. Srikanth Goud, and the staff of the Central Zone Task Force, Hyderabad. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, S. Rashmi Perumal, said further investigation is underway.
