DCA officials busts fake MBBS doctor in Tukaram Gate
Tukaramgate: A fake MBBS doctor running a clinic in Tukaram Gate was nabbed by the Drugs Control Administration(DCA) of Telangana on Friday. The Tukaram Gate police booked a cheating case against the accused. DCA officials were appalled to find medicines intended for Indian Railways Supply.
With credible information, DCA officials conducted a raid at Vayu Clinic located at Sai Nagar, North Lalaguda, Tukaram Gate, Secunderabad. Investigation revealed that the clinic was being operated by a quack, Pullagurla Venkateshwar Reddy, who falsely claimed to be an MBBS doctor. He was practicing medicine without proper qualifications, thereby deceiving the public. “Pullagurla Venkateshwar Reddy falsely impersonating as a MBBS doctor on the clinic board. He was treating the patients and cheating the public,” said DCA officials.
Drugs Control Administration found large quantities of medicines stocked at the premises without any drug license. “During the raid, DCA officials found that 44 varieties of Allopathic Drugs were stocked for sale. When questioned about the valid drug license to stock and sell the 44 varieties of Allopathic drugs, Venkateshwar Reddy confessed about the absence of any valid drug license.”
Medicines intended for Indian Railways Supply were also found at the clinic
“Among the seized items were 44 varieties of medicines, including antibiotics, steroids, analgesics, anti-ulcer drugs, and more. Notably, medicines intended for Indian Railways Supply were also found at the clinic. DCA officials seized the entire stock, worth Rs. 1.60 lakhs, during the operation. Further DCA officers lifted the samples for analysis”, said DCA officials in a statement. Further investigation is underway, and action would be taken as per the law against all the offenders. During the raid, officials found doctor stamps bearing fake registration numbers and fake prescription books at the clinic.
Drugs Control Administration, Telangana also lodged a complaint at the Tukaram Gate Police Station regarding the fraudulent practice of claiming to be an MBBS doctor and cheating the public. Based on the complaint police booked a case under section 419 and Sections 420 (Cheating) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the quack P. Venkateshwar Reddy.
DCA officials warned the wholesalers and dealers who supply medicines to such unqualified persons, who are stocking and selling drugs without a drug license, are also punishable under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, and stringent action shall be taken against such Wholesalers/Dealers.
