Congress Chevella candidate Dr Gaddam Ranjith Reddy: I accept my defeat

Chevella: Dr Gaddam Ranjith Reddy, Indian National Congress candidate for the Chevella parliament seat accepted his defeat on Tuesday. Dr Gaddam Ranjith Reddy who was the sitting MP from Chevella changed his loyalties to Indian National congress(INC) from Bharat Rashtra Samithi(BRS) after congress came to power in the recently held Assembly elections and contested for the same seat on Congress ticket.

Speaking to the media, Dr Gaddam Ranjith Reddy said, “We didn’t expect this kind of wave for the BJP party. I thank all the Congress leaders who supported me. I am accepting defeat. Congratulate Konda Vishweshwar Reddy.”

Dr Gaddam Ranjith Reddy who was sitting MP from Chevella in the month of March Dr Gaddam Ranjith Reddy joined congress in the presence of Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Deepa Das Munshi, the incharge of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee affairs.

Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, from Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) leading the Chevella parliamentary segment with a majority of over 1,00,000 votes. Of the total, 8,41,954 EVM votes polled Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, from Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) garnered 4,25,314 which amounted to 50.14 perfect of votes.

Following behind is Dr Gaddam Ranjith Reddy from the Indian National Congress(INC), who has received 320875 votes which is 37.4 percent, trailing by a margin of 104439 votes.

In third place comes Kasani Gyaneshwar from Bharat Rashtra Samithi(BRS), who secured 83,054 votes which is 9.82 percent and trailing behind the two leading candidates.The vote counting process in the Chevella parliamentary segment is being closely observed by three parties.

The Chevella constituency was established in 2009 after the delimitation of Lok Sabha constituencies. Since the formation of Telangana State in 2014, the BRS (then TRS) won the Chevella seat in the Lok Sabha elections held in 2014 and 2019. Konda Vishweshwar Reddy, who won as an MP on the BRS ticket from Chevella in 2014, joined the Congress in 2018, contested as a Congress candidate in 2019, and later joined the BJP.
