Hyderabad District voting percentage sees spike of 3.36 percent
Hyderabad: The city of Hyderabad has reported a three percent growth in its voter turnout in the recently concluded Parliamentary elections in the state, shows data released by the District election Officer(DEO) Ronald Ross.
According to the latest data, in comparison with the 2019 parliamentary elections there is a spike of 3.36 percent in 2024 parliamentary elections in the Hyderabad district which comprises Hyderabad and Secunderabad parliament constituencies.
Coming to the Parliamentary wise data, in Hyderabad constituency, 2024 voters turnout percentage stood at 48.48 as against the 45.75 percent in 2019 parliamentary elections. Likewise in Secunderabad parliament constituency, 2024 voters turnout percentage stood at 49.04 as against the 46.26 percent in 2019 parliamentary elections. There is an increase of 2.73 percent and 2.78 percent respectively.
How Assembly segment fared
Hyderabad parliament constituency consists of Seven Assembly segments- Malakpet, Karwan, Goshamahal, Charminar, Chandrayangutta, Yakuthpura and Bahadurpura. Considering the Assembly segment wise data of Hyderabad parliament constituency- Malakpet assembly segment registered the lowest voter turnout percentage with 42.76 closely followed by Yakuthpura with 43.34 percent, Charminar with 48.53 percent, Chandrayangutta with 49.15 percent, Bahadurpura with 50.70 percent, Karwan with 51.23 percent and Goshamahal with 54.72 percent,as per the data revealed by District election officials.
According to the data, Secunderabad parliament constituency consists of Seven Assembly segments – Musheerabad, Amberpet, Kairathabad, Jubilee Hills, Sanathnagar, Nampally and Secunderabad. Considering the Assembly segment wise data of Secunderabad parliament constituency- Jubilee hills assembly segment registered the lowest voter turnout percentage with 45.59 followed by Nampally with 46.59 percent, Sanathnagar with 49.45 percent, Musheerabad with 49.09 percent,Kairathabad with 50.28 percent, Amberpet with 51.65 percent and Secunderabad with 52.48 percent in 2024 parliamentary elections.
Attributing the factors that led to an increase in voting percentage to Election officials awareness programs, District Election officer(DEO) Ronald Ross said, “Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral participation(SVEEP) programs which were spearheaded by the District officials for educating and creating awareness among the voters on the value of vote and democracy bore fruitful results.”
