HYDERABAD: Two individuals, Vanam Laxmi Narayana (37) from Uppal, and Erukala Pranay Kumar (26) from Gachibowli, were apprehended by SOT Balanagar zone in collaboration with Allapur police on Saturday for engaging in the production of fake currency. The accused are purportedly involved in a scheme distributing counterfeit currency in a 1:4 ratio.

Accused Vanam Laxmi Narayana, with two prior cases for cheating through mortgaging fake gold, commenced the printing of counterfeit currency notes at home as a means to earn quick money. His inspiration reportedly stemmed from the Bollywood web series ‘Farzi,’ directed by Raj and DK.

Laxmi Narayana, possessing expertise in computers and printers, gained knowledge of counterfeit currency printing. He procured the necessary materials for producing fake notes, including a screen printer, green foil paper, JK Excel bond papers, cutters, and a lamination machine for printing on green foil paper.

The process initiated with the scanning of real notes using his laptop. Subsequently, he layered green foil paper onto Excel bond paper, applied heat with a lamination machine, and affixed the components. After outlining the currency note, he printed the scanned copy onto the paper. To add a watermark, he utilized a screen printing frame. All these activities were meticulously hidden behind closed and locked doors, with even his family remaining oblivious to his illicit endeavors.
