HYDERABAD: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has seized former Bharath Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA, Jeevan Reddy’s Mall and Multiplex near Armoor Bus Station in Nizamabad district for nonpayment of ₹ 2.51 crore lease dues after serving the final notice last week.

TSRTC mentioned that 7,059 square yards of RTC land were leased to Vishnujit Infra Developers Company. Lease is given under Built Operate Transfer (BOT) for 33 years on June 1, 2013. In 2017, former MLA Jeevan Reddy’s wife Rajitha Reddy took over Vishnujit Infra Developers Private Limited and named the shopping mall Jeevan Reddy Mall and Multiplex. It was explained that the stalls inside were leased to third parties.

TSRTC MD Sajjanar’s explanation:

According to the agreement, the company failed to pay rent on time, revealed Telangana RTC MD Sajjanar in a recent statement. “The company owed ₹ 8.65 crores until October last year. After issuing notices, the company paid ₹ 1.50 crores in October. Later, after sending show-cause notices, they paid ₹ 2.40 crores in installments in December last year. They approached the High Court challenging the show-cause notice. Following interim orders from the High Court to pay the dues to TSRTC, they paid ₹ 2 crores in installments in January and February this year,” said Sajjanar.

“On March 27, the High Court issued clear orders to pay all dues within a month in this case. It clarified that it is public money. The company was instructed to take action as per the rules if the dues are not paid. The company did not pay the total dues within the one-month deadline. Currently, ₹ 2.51 crores in rent dues are pending,” explained RTC MD Sajjanar.

Sajjanar reminded that over the past 5 years, the organization has issued more than 20 notices to pay the dues. He stated that the organization does not compromise on rent dues. He clarified that the dues are being collected as per the rules.
