Manikonda: The street dog menace has become a rampant problem in various localities in the city of Hyderabad. In yet another attack by the street dogs in Chitrapuri colony of Manikonda, a woman who went for a morning walk was attacked by a pack of dogs in a parking lot. The attack which was recorded in CCTV footage has also become viral. In the CCTV footage, one can see a pack of dogs attacking a woman and while the women are trying to shoo them off. Fortunately, the woman could succeed in protecting herself with her persistent defence.

The women’s husband reacted to the video and asked to curb the menace of street dogs and requested the citizens not to feed them, hoping it to be a solution, as it discourages them from being in the area.

The husband said,“My wife went for a walk at 6am on Saturday morning. So many dogs attacked her very brutally. It’s not just related to my home, everybody should think about it,” said the husband.

Do not feed street dogs, requests victim’s husband

He further added, “Whoever is feeding, please go out and feed them. We also have two dogs, if you love them, adopt them and take care. But just because you have extra food and you want to feed these street dogs, they have become numerous.”

He lamented that his wife was on the verge of losing her life and survived after a lot of struggle.”She was on the verge of losing her life, she struggled a lot. In her place, if there was anyone else, think about the situation. What if there was an elderly woman or a child, would they even survive? Think and act. Today it happened in our home, tomorrow it might happen near your house, please think about it. In the past similar incidents have happen. We can raise dogs in our home, but we cannot encourage street dogs like this as they are becoming only a problem. Please understand me and control them.”

Meanwhile, the Manikonda officials said to the media that they have informed about the street dogs to their partner organisation Blue Cross, which further captured the nine dogs from the locality for sterilisation and vaccination in their animal care facility. After sterilisation, the dogs would be left in the streets.
