SOT teams buts two rackets smuggling banned cotton seeds

Special operation team(SOT) of Cyberabad police busted a banned seed racket and arrested 4 men in connection with the two different cases. And seized 1.440 tons of Banned (BG-III/HT) cotton seeds which are banned by the Government of Telangana, all worth of Rs. 36 Lakhs, said police.

In the first case, the Special Operations Team(SOT) intercepted a transport vehicle transporting 1.2 Tons of banned cotton seed and seized the seeds worth Rs 30 lakhs.

With a tip off, in a joint SOT Medchal and Genome Valley police intercepted the vehicle and arrested Pulikonda Yashwanth Kumar who was smuggling banned cotton seeds. According to the police, The arrested accused Pulikonda Yashwanth Kumar is a professional driver. The prime accused Suresh Yadav hired Kumar for plying the banned seeds and he was pid Rs.40,000 for a trip. Further Kumar was tasked to go to Sindhanur town of Raichur district Karnataka to load the banned seeds to return to Mandamarri of Mancherial District of Telangana and unload the package.

“Following the instructions of prime accused Pindi Suresh Yadav, Kumar stayed in Lodge at Sindhanur town. Further a unknown person,already briefed by Suresh Yadav paid a visit to him at his lodging and took his empty vehicle and returned with 1.2 Tons packed in 30 bags- 40 KGs each bag of BG-III/HT Cotton Seeds,”said Cyberabad police in an official statement. Genome Valley police of Cyberabad police booked a case and further investigation is underway.

In the second case Special Operations Team (SOT) intercepted a transport vehicle transporting 240 kgs of banned cotton seed and seized the seeds worth Rs 6 lakhs.

Apprehended Three men identified as Borra Shiva Shankar Rao, Kiran and A Srinivas Reddy under the limits of Shankarpally police station of Cyberabad commissionerate who illegally possess banned BG-III/HT cotton seeds.

With a tip off, in a joint SOT Medchal and Genome Valley police intercepted the vehicle and arrested Borra Shiva Shankar Rao who was smuggling banned cotton seeds.

When questioned the arrested accused Borra Shiva Shankar Rao confessed about two other accused. Subsequently SOT apprehended two other persons Kiran and A Srinivas Reddy. Further Seized 240 Kgs of banned BG-III/HT Cotton Seeds worth of Rs. 6,00,000 from their possession. Investigation revealed the accused bought banned BG-III/HT Cotton Seeds from Srinivas Rao for Rs 2500 per Kg. Shankerpally police booked a case and further investigation is underway.

They have been smuggling prohibited seeds from few years. And selling the same to gullible farmers at a higher rate and making profits added Cyberabad police.
