Hyderabad police seize Rs. 2 crore in unaccounted gold, silver jewellery

Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force, North Zone Team, Hyderabad City, along with Chilkalaguda Police, apprehended two individuals and seized unaccounted gold ornaments and silver items worth Rs. 2 crore on June 14 (Friday).

The accused have been identified as Bajjuri Purnachander (49), son of B. Shanker Lingam, residing in Mettuguda, Secunderabad, and Syed Baba Shareef, son of Sd. Mahmood (25), a driver residing in Warangal.

Seized Gold and Silver Jewellery Details

The authorities seized 2.5 kg of gold and diamond jewellery, around 1 kg of silver, a Honda (WR-V) car, and three cell phones valued at Rs. 2 crores.

Acting on a tip-off, the Task Force police intercepted the suspects while they were transporting undisclosed gold ornaments and silver items in two boxes in a Honda (WR-V) car (Reg. No. TS03EU4579) near Aparna Oosmans Everest Apartments, Mettuguda, Secunderabad.

Upon inquiry, the accused failed to produce valid documents for carrying such a large number of gold ornaments. Consequently, all the ornaments were seized and are being handed over to the Income Tax Department for further action.

Sub-Inspectors B. Ashok Reddy, Srinivasulu Dasu, and P. Gnanadeep, along with their team from the North Zone Task Force, conducted the apprehension.
