Seethakka Visits Molachinthalapalli Victim

HYDERABAD: Minister Dr. Danasari Anasuya Seethakka, in charge of Panchayati Raj, Rural Development, and Women and Child Welfare, visited Molachinthalapalli attack victim at NIMS Hospital, pledges full support to family. The victim, a Chenchu woman from Molachinthalapalli, was brutally attacked. Seethakka condemned the inhuman attack and promised that the culprits would be severely punished. She assured the police of full freedom to act against the perpetrators and affirmed the government’s commitment to support the victim’s family.

Seethakka emphasized that such medieval mentality and heinous crimes would not be tolerated. She personally spoke with the victim and gathered details about the incident. Seethakka reassured Eeshwaramma and her family of the government’s full support and urged them to stay strong. She instructed the police to ensure the accused are punished and directed the Nagarkurnool SP to expedite the case. Seethakka also highlighted the support from district officials and other ministers who have stood by the victim since the incident.

About the incident

A shocking case of violence against a 27-year-old woman has surfaced from Nagarkurnool, Telangana, approximately 134.2 km from Hyderabad. The woman, identified as Eshwaramma, endured brutal abuse that came to light much later. The incident occurred on June 8 but only reached police attention on June 19, leading to the prompt arrest of the accused on June 20. According to the police report, Eshwaramma, who worked as a laborer, frequently left her husband and children, purportedly due to her aversion to labor work. Concerned about her children’s welfare, her relatives—Lingaswamy, Laxmi, Bandi Venkatesh, and Bandi Shivamma—reportedly subjected her to a vicious assault.

The attackers allegedly beat Eshwaramma severely and subjected her to further cruelty by applying chili powder to her eyes and private parts. They also poured diesel and set her internal body parts on fire. The horrific incident took place on the night of June 8, but the assailants managed to keep it hidden until June 19, when the police were finally informed. Upon receiving the report, the police immediately intervened and transferred Eshwaramma to the hospital for urgent medical treatment on the night of June 19. Subsequently, all the accused were apprehended and formally remanded into custody on June 20.

Land disputes believed to be the cause of the attack

Seethakka attributed the attack to ongoing land disputes involving Chenchu lands. She mentioned suspicions that individuals eyeing these lands were behind such attacks. According to Seethakka, past landowners, who have reclaimed land due to recent regulations, are likely the instigators of these attacks. She assured that the government would protect the Chenchu community’s rights and lands, which have increased in value and attracted such malicious intentions.

The minister stated that the attackers would face charges under the SC/ST Atrocities Prevention Act and attempted murder. She also announced an immediate financial aid of ₹4 lakhs for the victim and ensured continued support until her complete recovery. Seethakka urged the police to act strictly to prevent such incidents in the future and assured that those who commit crimes under the influence of substances like drugs and marijuana would face severe punishments.

In the early hours of June 24, Telangana Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka also visited the victim, Eeshwaramma, at NIMS Hospital. He, along with Minister Jupally, expressed their support for the victim and her family. They reassured that the government would cover all medical expenses and provide additional support, including housing, education for her children, and agricultural land for sustenance.
