Liver doc slams actor Samantha for spreading ‘dangerous’ health misinformation
Hyderabad : Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu comes under fire for spreading potentially dangerous health misinformation by Dr Abby Philips, popularly known as The Liver Doc on social media. On her Instagram story, she shared a photo of her using an inhaler and captioned it as “Before taking medication for a common viral, consider trying an alternative approach. One option is to nebulize with a mixture of hydrogen peroxide and distilled water. Works like magic. Avoid unnecessary use of tablets.” and shared with a hashtag #Alternativemedicine and tagged doctor Mitra Basu Chhillar.
This has come under the ire as it is not a suggested method of inhalation. Responding to the same Dr Abyy Philips, popularly known as The Liver Doc on social media, said that “In a rational and scientifically progressive society, this woman will be charged with endangering public health and fined or put behind bars. She needs help or a better advisor in her team. Will India’s Health Ministry or any health regulatory body do something about these social media health influenzas damaging public health or will they remain spineless and let people die?”
The doctor has also shared two images of actor Samantha’s instagram story on the left and the on the right the warning issued by the Asthma Allergy Foundation of America. “DO NOT put Hydrogen peroxide into your nebulizer and breathe it in. This is dangerous. It is not a way to prevent or treat COVID-19,” read the advisory shared by the Liver Doc.

Gutta Jwala, the Indian Badminton Player has also reacted to the post of the Liver Doc and said, “This is sad and dangerous??” For which, the Liver Doc, has replied, “Yes, There are actual published reports showing that this can lead to severe chemical lung injury.”

Another netizen commented that “I don’t understand why they want to get into the medical space. Don’t they have enough to do already?” Further another doctor posted, “Samantha’s post of Samantha is shockingly dangerous. She must delete the post, admit the blunder, clarify the matter and stop propagating such dangerous unscientific ideas.”
Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu is an Indian actor known for her Tollywood films and webseries Family Man. The actor earlier revealed that she has been dealing with an autoimmune disorder, Myositis.
