ICMR-NIN launches Nutrify India Now 2.0 mobile app

Nutrify India Now 2.0

HYDERABAD/TARNAKA: The ICMR-National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) has launched the Nutrify India Now 2.0 (NIN 2.0) mobile app. This mobile app is designed to assist users in tracking their daily nutritional intake and physical activity. The app was released by NIN Director Dr. Hemalatha.

App offers nutritional tracking and personalized health suggestions

Nutrify India Now 2.0 mobile app monitors key health indicators such as Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), Body Mass Index (BMI), energy balance, body weight, water intake, and sleep patterns. Dr. R. Ananthan from NIN led the app’s development. He further highlighted the app’s compatibility with both Android and iOS devices and its integration with wearable technology.

Unlike conventional nutrition apps, NIN 2.0 is based on scientific data generated by ICMR-NIN. It allows users to assess the nutrient composition of food and recipes with near accuracy. Users can log their daily meals and track their dietary history through the Diet Diary feature.

“The app also offers recipe customization, enabling users to edit standardized recipes, substitute or add ingredients, change ingredient quantities, or modify portion sizes,” emphasized Dr. Hemalatha. The app calculates energy intake and expenditure over 24 hours to bring the energy balance closer to actual values.

NIN 2.0 provides tailored recommendations based on the user’s food intake to help improve dietary habits. By recording daily dietary intake and energy expenditure, users can better understand their energy balance, promoting better health. The app includes many user-friendly features for maintaining comprehensive health records.

Dr. R. Ananthan mentioned that the beta version of the app is available now at https://68.183.89.215:5000/, with the final version expected next month.
