Meat shops to be closed in Hyderabad on this Sunday

HYDERABAD: GHMC has ordered the closure of all slaughterhouses and shops selling any type of meat (chicken, mutton, prawns, dishes, etc.) on the occasion of Mahavir Jayanti. So, All meat shops in Hyderabad to remain closed this Sunday.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Commissioner, Ronald Rose has issued orders to this effect. The commission has warned of strict actions against the shopkeepers who try to violate them. So, the officials of GHMC asked all the shop owners to cooperate with them on Sunday. All slaughterhouses and meat shops can open as usual on Monday (April 22), the orders said.

If we exclude other days, many families in the city will bring their favorite meat and enjoy eating with the family on all Sundays. But meat lovers have to stop their cravings for this Sunday.

Mahavir Jayanti is observed in the Jain community. As the city has a large number of Jain followers, GHMC has imposed strict restrictions to close non-vegetarian(meat) shops on Mahavir Jayanti i.e., on Sunday
