Sewer Line Breakage In Kukatpally Requires Immediate Action

KUKATPALLY: A huge sewer line breakage has caused a worrying scenario near Kukatpally’s Kalamandir Mall. The spilling of wastewater onto the roads, coupled with a foul odour, has gravely inconvenienced commuters. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) needs to urgently address this issue to prevent further damage and potential health hazards and provide a permanent solution.

While speaking to the Hyderabad Mail, Sai Teja, a social activist, said, “The sewage line has broken several times, causing wastewater to overflow onto the roads and inconveniencing commuters with its pungent smell. The main reason for the sewage blockage is the inadequate infrastructure of the hotels and shopping malls. They lack a proper sewage treatment plant, which is leading to the breakage of the sewage pipe.”

“The improper disposal of products such as tissues and waste from the nearby hotel is one of the reasons for clogging, blockage, and damage. This is leading to overflow on the roads. Over time, sewer pipes can corrode, crack, or collapse due to aging. This could also be the cause of the breakage,” added the social activist.

The social activist said, “These disruptions inconvenience daily activities and pose health hazards due to exposure to untreated sewage. Timely sewer line repair is necessary to address these issues.”

“I have brought this issue to the attention of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) on multiple occasions. However, the issue persists, and it is crucial that the authorities devise a permanent solution to these recurring sewage issues,” said Sai Teja.

Sai Teja, the social activist, took to ‘X’ and posted: “@HMWSSBOnline @MDHMWSSB @revanth_anumula @TelanganaCMO, this is a never-ending saga in KPHB Kukatpally.
