Disciples showcase traditional Kuchipudi styles

The performance commenced with a traditional Purva Rangam by the Hyderabad disciples, under the guidance of their Delhi-based mentors. The audience was captivated by the “Swara Jati” composed in Vasantha Raga by the illustrious Kuchipudi maestro, late Dr. Vempati Chinna Satyam. Following this, performances like “Vaaniki Vandana,” “Dashavataram,” “Aurasabdam,” “Tulsi Das Keerthana,” “Koluvaitiva,” and “Brindavana Saranga Thillana” enthralled the spectators.

Many of those who learned Kuchipudi from her in the Hyderabad branch have achieved significant acclaim. Nagajyothi couple, along with their disciples from Delhi and Hyderabad, presented their traditional dance styles.

Last week (June 10-15), Smt. Seeta Nagajyothi conducted a “Back to Basics” workshop in Hyderabad. Organized in collaboration with Dr. Yashoda Thakur Rinda Sharanya Kuchipudi Artist Academy, the workshop featured the teaching of “Swara Jati,” which was performed today.
