HCA plans new international stadium

Uppal: Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) planning to rope in former pacer Venkatesh Prasad as the head of HCA cricket operations. Further, a roadmap for women’s league cricket and plans to construct a new international stadium in Hyderabad is also in line. These are some of the important points that came up during the apex council meeting held on Sunday at Uppal stadium.

HCA President Jaganmohan Rao said, “Keeping in mind the welfare and progress of Telangana cricketers, we are holding discussions with former pacer Venkatesh Prasad as the head of HCA cricket operations”.

Rao further added that discussions will be held with the government to build a new international stadium soon, which will increase the brand image of Hyderabad, and it can be easily constructed if the government agrees to give land. He also said that we are working to build stadiums in two and three district centers and we will call tenders to put up a turf wicket in Mahabubnagar stadium and fencing around Nizamabad stadium.

Explaining the issue of lack of funds to HCA, Jagan Mohan Rao said “The pending audits from 2018 have been approved. If these are sent to BCCI, the pending funds due from BCCI will also be released, he said. He said that a committee has been set up for the payment of clearing pending bills, in which one person from Apex Council, one person from AG and one lawyer will be present. Jagan Mohan Rao said that they will inquire and pay the bills”.

Secretary Devraj said “the domestic cricket schedule will start from 8th of this month. He said that we are preparing a road map to start women’s league cricket as well. It has been mentioned that there is a plan to construct a multi-level parking lot at the Uppal Stadium.
