Hyderabad: On Saturday, the Commissioner of the Food Safety Taskforce conducted an inspection at Sri Kaling Raacharika Ruchulu, a hotel serving both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food in Sainikpuri. During the inspection, items worth Rs 5,380 were seized, and discarded food items worth Rs 5,275 were disposed of.

During the inspection, several serious violations were identified. Dustbins were found to be openly exposed in the kitchen area, posing a potential health hazard. Several food handlers were observed without head caps, gloves, and aprons. The kitchen drains were blocked by water and food waste, creating an unsanitary environment. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian raw materials were stored in the same refrigerator without proper lids and labels, raising concerns about cross-contamination. The Food Safety Taskforce noted that the kitchen lacked adequate ventilation, compromising food safety standards.

The store is very congested and disorganized, with food items on the floor. The floor is untidy, with a lot of dust and mud patches. The task force discovered that a foul smell was coming from the entrance of the store all the way to the kitchen area.

The FSSAI license was not displayed on the premises. Expired food items such as golisoda, dalda (vanaspati), and Britannia bread had to be discarded, resulting in a loss of Rs 950, said the task force.

The Food Safety Task Force reported the seizure of unlabeled food products, including nutmeg, broken cashews, stones, flour, King cashews, and green Indian cardamom, totaling Rs 5,380. Additionally, unlabeled prawns and crabs were discarded, resulting in Rs 4,150.

Also, the license number on the receipt did not match the bill. Furthermore, the Food Business Operators (FBO) did not have the medical fitness certificate and FOSTAC training certificates available, as mentioned on the Food Safety Task Force’s Twitter account.
