Begumpet Residents Demand Ghmc Action

Hyderabad: The residents of Prakash Nagar, Viqar Nagar, and Patigadda, which fall under Begumpet, are facing several challenges, including the lack of open gyms, daily sweeping, rainwater harvesting, and plantation efforts. Additionally, there are issues with encroachment and poor road conditions in the area. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) should take immediate action, as the authorities are not taking any accountability.

While speaking to Hyderabad Mail, Ahmed, a resident of Begumpet, shared that, “Our area has three grounds that are not properly maintained. We would like to have an open gym at the Model Market Ground, which is currently being used as a private parking area for nearly thirty cars. Additionally, we are requesting a playground at one of the grounds and a park at another.”

Ahmed highlighted that our area lacks proper dustbin facilities, leading to a buildup of trash in various locations. This accumulation poses significant health risks, particularly during the rainy season. Additionally, there is a noticeable absence of regular cleaning efforts. Ahmed also conveyed his frustration regarding the officials’ lack of response to public complaints.

Ahmed said that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation authorities have shown zero accountability.

He further said, ‘The old government quarters at Patigadda are currently overrun with tons of trash and have become a hub for private individuals conducting business and using the area for parking. There is a lack of rainwater harvesting or plantation efforts in this area.” An official from the Sanitation Department stated that the area undergoes daily inspections, regular sweeping, and continuous maintenance to ensure cleanliness. When asked about the Model Market Ground, he mentioned that it is private land where vehicle parking is permitted.

He mentioned that encroachment and poor road conditions are currently at their worst.

Ahmed reached out to ‘X’ to express his concern. He mentioned, “When this area is scheduled for inspection, please visit the 3 GHMC grounds. In one of the grounds, install an open gym, and clean the other 2 grounds. Children in Patigadda, Begumpet ward 149 will be deprived of physical activities.”
Ahmed raised his concerns again about the lack of maintenance and greenery in the Patigadda area, Begumpet Ward 149. The grounds are being used for parking and functions instead of an open gym.

He recalled that neither KTR nor Gadwal Vijaya Lakshmi had responded to my post on X at any time, and the agony had been continuing for several years.
