Acb Nabs Kushaiguda Police Officers In Bribe Case

Secunderabad: The Anti Corruption Bureau(ACB) of Hyderabad reportedly nabbed three men, including two police officers of Kushaiguda police station, Rachakonda commissionerate and a middleman, while accepting a bribe on Friday.

Based on the complaint from Bharath Reddy, a resident of Kushaiguda, ACB registered a case and caught the accused red handedly while accepting the bribe at the complaint’s office located in ECIL crossroads. The tainted officers who were nabbed by the ACB are identified as Kushaiguda Police Inspector G Veeraswamy and Sub Inspector Sheik Shafi and a middleman named Upender.

Speaking to the media, Deputy superintendent of police (DSP) ACB Ranga Reddy, Anand Kumar said, “The complainant Bharath Reddy, possessed a land at Chakripuram. Due to some land dispute between him and his neighbours, a case was filed against him by his neighbours. Another case was registered by the Deputy Tahsildar on April 19.”

Claiming to be innocent, Bharath Reddy approached the High Court and pleaded for justice. Subsequently the High Court issued an order not to arrest him and ordered the police to issue only 41 A notice.

Tainted official demanded a three lakhs bribe

According to the law enforcement agency, the tainted official Sub inspector, Shaik Shafi, working in Kushaiguda police station of the Rachakonda Commissionerate through a middleman -Upender- demanded a bribe of three lakhs to close the case. Bharath Reddy insisted on talking with the Sub-inspector. After confirming that police are involved in this, Bharath Reddy lodged a complaint. Based on which ACB laid a trap and arrested the corrupt officers, both hand fingers of the accused yielded positive results in the chemical test.

“The Accused Officers thereby performed their public duty improperly and dishonestly. ACB arrested the tainted officials and will produce before Court at Nampaly, Hyderabad,” said ACB in an official statement. Further investigation is underway.

ACB requested that the public approach them if any government official demands a bribe through their toll-free number of ACB, i.e. 1064. Further assured to take stringent action as per the law of land.
