Urdu Galli residents demand fix for pothole-plagued road

Urdu Galli Road Repairs

HYDERABAD: Himayat Nagar Residents of Urdu Galli in Avanti Nagar are up in arms over the poor condition of the road stretching from St. Paul’s High School to Madina School. The 35-year-old road is riddled with potholes, posing a significant danger to both motorists and pedestrians.

According to residents, authorities have attempted to address the issue twice with patchwork repairs. However, these temporary fixes have only exacerbated the problem, offering minimal relief that quickly deteriorates. Frustrated residents are demanding a permanent solution to the deteriorating road.

While speaking with Hyderabad Mail, Dinesh, a resident of the area, said “The road is in a terrible state. The numerous potholes make it extremely difficult to drive on. Two-wheeler riders are especially at risk of skidding and getting into accidents. School children who use this route daily face hardships due to the poor road conditions.”

Dinesh further highlighted the problems caused by the weekly Rythu Bazaar market held on the same road. “The market adds to the chaos and leaves the road filthy at the end of the day,” he said.

“The monsoon season has only worsened the situation. Traveling on this road during the rains is a nightmare,” Dinesh lamented.

“While I have complained on ‘X’ tagging the concerned officials, hoping for a response and action, the authorities have only resorted to temporary patchwork solutions twice. We need a permanent solution to this problem,” the resident demanded.

Dinesh took to the social media platform ‘X’ to express his concerns, stating, “The Road has been in bad shape for the past two years from St. Paul’s High School till Madina School in Urdu Galli, Avanti Nagar, Himayat Nagar. I’m requesting @ZC_Secunderabad to look into the issue as soon as possible. Many two-wheelers are skidding on the road.”
