Two held for illegal Deer Horn possession in Bowenpally
BOWENPALLY: The Commissioner’s Task Force, Central Zone team, and Forest Range Officers of Hyderabad arrested two individuals for the illegal possession of deer horns near Shankar Enclave, within Bowenpally police station’s jurisdiction.

The accused, Pittala Shoban Babu and Bonala Naga Chary, were caught red-handed with deer horns, allegedly seeking buyers to make illicit profits.
Pittala Shoban Babu (25), a fruit seller from Sikindalapur village, Medak Dist, relies on seasonal fruit business for his livelihood. Meanwhile, Bonala Naga Chary (40), originally from Dammata village, Warangal, Telangana, relocated to Hyderabad and works as a goldsmith in Bowenpally.
After exchanging phone numbers a few months ago, Pittala Shoban Babu occasionally sold bird meat to Naga Chary. Subsequently, Naga Chary proposed the illegal sale of deer horns in the Secunderabad market at exorbitant prices, which Pittala Shoban Babu agreed to.
Recently, Pittala Shoban Babu acquired two deer horns from an unidentified source in Suraram for Rs. 2,000, which he handed over to Naga Chary, aiming to sell them at a premium in Bowenpally.
On March 19, 2024, the accused were apprehended while actively seeking buyers in Bowenpally Market. Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement seized the deer horns from their possession.

Any involvement in the buying, selling, or possession of wildlife articles or trophy violates the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and constitutes a punishable offense.
The accused, along with the confiscated deer horns, were handed over to the Deputy Range Officer of the Forest Department’s West Range in Hyderabad for further investigation
