Miyapur Traffic Police take the lead, patch up potholes

Miyapur Road Patches police patchup potholes

Hyderabad: Hyderabad is currently riddled with numerous potholes, leading to widespread frustration among the local residents. The situation is exacerbated by the ongoing rainy season, which is causing even more inconvenience. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), responsible for road maintenance, has received criticism for its sluggish response to this issue. However, a glimmer of hope emerged when the Miyapur Traffic Police took it upon themselves to fill the potholes along the road leading to Bachupally Police Station and Miyapur, showcasing a commendable display of proactive civic duty.

While speaking to Hyderabad Mail, Sai Teja, a resident, expressed his trust in the traffic police. He said, “When the concerned department asked with repairs isn’t doing its job, the police, who face the public directly, take the initiative. These potholed roads are death traps, and I wholeheartedly support the traffic police in taking ownership and fixing the issue. This isn’t the first time the traffic police have gone above and beyond. They even clear waterlogging before the concerned department arrives, prioritizing public safety.”

Sai Teja urged the Telangana Minister of Urban Development and the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to take immediate action on resident complaints. “The Chief Minister Revanth Reddy should ensure all departments work on resolving reported issues,” he added.

One citizen took to X and requested, “Why not on Begumpet main road on both sides @HYDTP please fill these potholes and underwent manholes or tap concerned authorities to take up the work, please?”

Cyberabad Traffic Police took to ‘X’ and posted, “Today, potholes on the road in front of Bachupally Police Station towards Miyapur were filled. #CyberabadTrafficPolice.”

The Hyderabad Meteorological Department forecasts rain and thunderstorms until June 15th. During heavy rainfall, Hyderabad residents are advised to contact the GHMC helpline (040-21111111 or 9000113667) for assistance from the Disaster Response Force.
