HYDERABAD: The Telangana People’s Joint Action Committee (TPJAC) launched a 10-day state-wide campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from May 2 to May 11 at Bashir Bagh Press Club on Thursday. State convener Prof. Haragopal, along with the co-conveners, leaders of various people’s organizations and senior civil society leaders participated.

Speaking at the meeting, TPJAC state convener Prof. Haragopal said, “Instead of speaking about the real issues and aspirations of the people in the election campaign, the BJP leaders, especially the country’s Prime Minister Modi, are referring to issues like Muslims and Mangala Sutras and are sidetracking the discussion.” He called upon the people of Telangana to recognize that “in the last ten years, the economy has gone completely bankrupt, unemployment, prices have increased tremendously, people are struggling with the problems of daily life, but ignoring these, Modi is campaigning on the basis of hatred against religion, God and Muslim people.”

Addressing the meeting, Prof. Rama Melkote criticised that “BJP leaders are completely violating moral values. Even the despicable situation of hundreds of rapes of women by Prajwal Revanna, MP candidate of BJP’s partner in Karnataka, have been covered up, and Modi has campaigned for such a person. The people of Telangana have lived in religious harmony for centuries, but now the BJP leaders are filling that atmosphere with hatred, and people should not be fooled by them.”

Telangana Jana Samithi President Prof Kodandaram addressed the meeting and criticized that due to Modi’s economic policies, crores of people have become billionaires, looted the country’s wealth, the rest of the people are stuck in poverty, and the economic differences in the country have increased. He called upon the people to defeat the BJP completely so that it does not come back to power at the Centre.

In the meeting, Kavitha Kuruganti, the national leader of Bharat Jodo Abhiyan, said that anti-BJP winds are blowing all over the country, especially in North India, and that is why Modi is trying to incite communal hatred. She wanted BJP to have no place in the South.
