GHMC plans to develop multi level parking facility at KBR park

Multiparking

Jubilee Hills: Unauthorized parking is one of the major problems in this ever expanding city of Hyderabad. To check the same, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is coming up with a pilot project of Multi-level parking. To begin with, the GHMC has chosen the ever busy KBR park located in the heart of the city.

KBR Park is one of the prominent lung spaces in the city, where thousands of users utilise the space for their walking and jogging and to do other physical excercises. Several residents from the localities including Jubilee hills, Banjara hills, Film Nagar and nearby areas would visit the park on a daily basis. Hence the area is known for its traffic congestion, resulting due to unauthorized parking of cars surrounding the KBR park.

Would accommodate at least 72 cars

According to the reports, GHMC is potentially looking at a public private partnership worth 3 crores to set up the multilevel parking system at KBR park Gate 1, falling under the Jubilee Hills limits. It is estimated that this project which will be a smart mechanized car and motorcycle parking facility would be constructed in a space of 405 square meters, accommodating at least 72 cars of which 20 percent of space would be alloted to the two-wheelers.

The GHMC has also invited proposals from agencies, which have the potential and prior expertise in constructing such structures. Bidders are welcomed by the GHMC and if the proposal is accepted the company would get an agreement period of ten years including the construction period. Arrangement of sufficient lighting and installation of CCTV cameras is als one of the main requirements for this parking facilities for the safety of the vehicles.

The problem of parking is also rampant in several parts of the city. Hence, apart from the KBR park, the GHMC is also likely to develop such multi level parking facilities in 50 more areas, suggest the reports.
