Hyderabad: Controversy has erupted with regards to the pension of Padma Shri Awardee Darshan Mogulaiah. As on Friday, the Telangana government has stated that it has indeed made the payment of pension to Darshan Mogulaiah and shared the screenshot of the payment.

As per the screenshot shared by the sources, a payment of Rs.20,000 has been made to two people, Gussadi Kanakaraju and Sri Darshan Mogulaiah and it was mentioned that this is part of their special sanction of pension for the lifetime. And it indicates that the payment for the month of March, 2024 has also been made to both the beneficiaries.

Both of these persons are the recipients of the Padma Shri Awards in the art category in 2022. Padma Shri is considered the fourth highest civilian award in India. Mogulaiah was awarded Padma Shri as he invented a rare musical instrument, the Kinnera.

The issue began on Friday morning, when the videos of Darshan Mogulaiah working as a daily wager circulated online. In the videos one can see Mogulaiah working along with the construction materials. According to the reports, he was working at a construction site in Turkayamjal near Hyderabad.

Talking to a media house, Mogulaiah said that his pension has been stopped recently for reasons unknown to him and he further added that he has got family responsibilities and had to take care of his son, who is suffering from seizures. He said that for medical expenses alone it costs around Rs.7000 to him per month.

The videos have created an uproar over the internet for the deplorable condition of the artist and people started questioning the government for stopping the pension.
