Drugs Control seizes Saheth Care Powder

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) seized ‘Saheth Care Powder’ on Tuesday at Hikma Sehat Care in Mohalla Gunj, Golkonda area in Hyderabad for allegedly promoting misleading advertisements claiming to treat Diabetes and Blood Pressure.

During a special drive conducted by the DCA to identify medicines in the market with misleading and objectionable advertisements, officials from the DCA Hyderabad Zone uncovered ‘Saheth Care Powder’, manufactured and marketed by Hikma Sehat Care in Mohalla Gunj, Golkonda, Hyderabad, bearing deceptive claims on its label.

The DCA officials confiscated 60 bottles of Saheth Care Powder worth Rs. 18,000 during the raids. Advertising a medicine for the treatment of ‘Diabetes’ and ‘Blood Pressure’ is prohibited under the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.

T. Rajamouli, Assistant Director of Hyderabad, led the raid, along with P. Santosh, Drugs Inspector of Mehdipatnam; Swapna, Drugs Inspector of Jubilee Hills; and V. Ajay, Drugs Inspector of Goshamahal. A further investigation will be conducted and all perpetrators will face legal repercussions.

Individuals who disseminate misleading advertisements regarding drugs for the treatment of certain diseases and disorders are subject to punishment under the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954, which may include imprisonment for up to six months, a fine, or both.
