HYDERABAD/NEW DELHI : Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy visited Delhi on Monday to attend the oath-taking ceremony of Congress MPs. During his visit, he called on Union ministers to discuss several issues concerning the state, pending with the Centre. Which includes extension of Smart City Mission deadline, transferring of defence land for construction of roads and skyways in Hyderabad, and some other pending issues with several Union Ministers.

Revanth Reddy appeals for defence land transfer and housing scheme funds

Revanth Reddy met Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, urging an early decision on transferring 2,450 acres of defence land for constructing roads and skyways in Hyderabad. He also requested the release of pending funds under the Smart City Mission and the sanctioning of 2.70 lakh houses under the Centrally-sponsored housing scheme.

The CM highlighted that 2,462 acres of state-owned land are being used by Imarat Research Centre (RCI) at Ravirala village. He insisted that the Defence Ministry transfer 2,450 acres of land for infrastructure development in Hyderabad and surrounding areas.

Revanth Reddy also brought up the issue of the Sainik School in Warangal. He pointed out that the previous BRS government did not take any steps for its construction. He requested Rajnath Singh to renew or grant a fresh permit for the Warangal Sainik School.

In a meeting with Union Urban Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Revanth Reddy indicated that 15 lakh houses from the planned 25 lakh houses to be built by the state government will be overseen by the Union Urban Development Ministry. He stated that Telangana has been granted 1,59,372 houses under the PMAY scheme with an announced amount of Rs 2,390.58 crore. Only a total of Rs 1,605.70 crore has been distributed up to this point. He implored the Union minister to promptly release the remaining balance.

Revanth Reddy requested an extension of the Smart City Mission deadline until June 2025.

Revanth Reddy’s meetings with the Union ministers aim to expedite the resolution of these crucial issues, ensuring that Telangana’s development projects progress without further delays.
