5K run held for participative elections at Botanical Garden, Hyderabad

Telangana Ceo Sri Vikas Raj At 5k Marathon 'i Vote For Sure'

HYDERABAD: Students, Botanical garden walkers association, Hyderabad runners revolution members and almost 1000 persons took part the 5k run “I Vote For Sure” event at Botanical Garden, Kondapur in Serilingampally Assembly Constituency of Chevella Parliamentary Constituency to Hitex.

The event was conducted by District Election Officer (DEO) of Ranga Reddy to create voter awareness for Lok Sabha Elections 2024, in which Telangana CEO Vikas Raj, GHMC commissioner D. Ronald Rose, DEO of Hyderabad, DEO of RR district, and Zonal commissioner of Lingampally, along with other GHMC officials, also participated.

These 5K-runs are being organised across Telangana to encourage voters, especially youngsters, to exercise their franchise with the inaugural run in Nalgonda on April 26. Voter awareness materials on how to check names in voter lists, check your polling station, c-VIGIL app, voting on polling day are displayed and slogans are raised during these events.

In 2019, even after a month-long sustained campaign by the Election Commission and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) sensitising voters to exercise their franchise, the urban areas including Chevella saw few takers with the polling percentage lower than 50 per cent.

The Election Commission announced the Lok Sabha Elections 2024. The voting schedule for the Chevella Lok Sabha/Parliamentary constituency is 13 May ( Phase 4 ) as announced. Furthermore, citizens above 85 years and those with disabilities can opt to cast their votes from their homes. The facility can be availed by filling Form 12D, which can also be filed through Saksham app.
