Telangana Government allocates Rs 20 crore for Bonalu festival 2024 celebrations

Telangana Bonalu Festival 2024

Hyderabad: The Telangana Government’s Revenue (Endowments) Department has issued a Budget Release Order allocating Rs. 20,00,00,000/- (Rupees Twenty Crores only) for the Bonalu Festival 2024. This allocation, drawn from the Budget Estimate Provision 2024-2025, exempts the usual quarterly regulation orders to ensure sufficient funds are available for the celebration of Ashada Jathara/Bonalu Jathara.

In an official order dated June 26, 2024, the Government has sanctioned these funds, allowing for additional allocations beyond regular treasury control orders, pending provision of supplementary grants during the financial year 2024-2025.

Under the scheme named “Bonalu Festival,” the District Collector of Hyderabad is authorized to disburse these funds to eligible temples, agencies, and departments. Utilization Certificates are required to be furnished to the Endowment Department post disbursement.

The Bonalu festival is a vibrant celebration held annually in Telangana, particularly in Hyderabad. It honors the Goddess Mahakali and is known for its colorful processions, traditional dances, and religious fervor.
