Telangana BC leaders demand job vacancies increase, highlight discrepancies

Telangana BC leaders

Hyderabad: The National BC Welfare Association demands the Telangana government to increase the jobs vacancies in the recruitment of Group- 1,2,3 and 4. Further BC leaders urged the government to take immediate action to fulfill the Congress party’s election promise of filling two lakhs jobs, as per the election assurance. Several BC leaders under the leadership of President of the National BC Welfare Association R. Krishnaiah submitted a representation to Telangana Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari and urged to take appropriate action on Friday.

According to the representation, Under Group-1 services, 503 posts were announced, but the actual requirement is 1,600 posts. For Group-2 services, 783 posts were announced, as against the actual requirement of 2,200 posts. Group-3 services announced 1,383 posts, while actual requirement is over 3,000. For Group-4 services, 8,500 posts were announced, but the actual vacancies are over 25,000. It is the case with Teacher posts, regarding teacher posts, 11,000 positions were announced, but according to the PRC report, there are 25,000 vacant teacher posts.

Emphasizing the need for implementing an option system and a waiting list with a time frame to fill up the post of President of the National BC Welfare Association and Rajya Sabha member R. Krishnaiah, said, “The current recruitment process for Group 1, 2, 3, and 4 positions, as well as for teacher, lecturer, and professor posts is being held simultaneously. Due to which merit candidates would be selected for multiple posts across different categories. And they had to choose one of them and the remaining will fall vacant”.

He further highlighted that as of now there is no waiting list or option system in place, which means that these unfilled positions are not being offered to other candidates. This results in a significant number of posts remaining vacant.

Suggesting a solution for that same R. Krishnaiah said, “Through introducing an option system and a waiting list with a time frame, all vacancies can be filled more efficiently, giving opportunities to more candidates. If a candidate is selected for multiple positions, they must choose one within a certain time frame. The remaining positions can then be offered to other candidates on a waiting list.”

Throwing light on teh teacher recruitment, it is the same case where recruitment examination for Government school posts, SC/ST/BC/Minority Gurukul school posts, and Adarsha school posts are conducted separately. Further Merit candidates are often selected for all these different posts but they were required to join only one, leaving the other posts vacant.

Therefore, by introducing an option system and a waiting list with a time limit for filling the posts, opportunities will be available to everyone, R. Krishnaiah is urging the government to implement an option system, establish a waiting list, and announce all results simultaneously. These steps will ensure a fairer and more efficient recruitment process, maximizing the use of available posts and providing more opportunities for deserving candidates.
