Task force finds licensing violations and safety concerns at Dairy Units in Hyderabad
HYDERABAD: A task force team conducted inspections in dairy manufacturing units and supermarkets on June 25 and June 21, 2024, respectively. Inspections conducted at Creamline Dairy Products Limited in Uppal, Sapthagiri Foods in Karmanghat, D-Mart in Vanasthalipuram, and Balaji Mart Enterprises in Turkayamjal.
Dairy units under scrutiny
During the inspection at Creamline Dairy Products Limited, Uppal the task force team observed several issues. The ceiling had loose plastering flakes, and broken tiles were found on the side walls in the pasteurization area. Possible water seepage was observed in the ice cream manufacturing unit. Additionally, the Food Business Operator (FBO) was repacking cooking butter from the Jersey unit in Ongole without including it in the scope of their license.
The raw food articles, such as Soluble Essence and Candied Karonda, were not stored at the recommended temperatures. However, workers in the food section were found wearing appropriate hair caps, gloves, masks, and uniforms. The facility had seven FoSTaC-trained supervisors on-site, and the premises were fitted with insect-proof screens, though minor damage was noted. The task force found pest control records, medical fitness certificates for food handlers, and analysis reports for the food products. The FSSAI license was also available for the vehicles involved in transportation.

At Sapthagiri Foods, Karmanghat the task force noted the absence of medical fitness certificates for food handlers and pest control records. The premises lacked insect-proof screens, and the doors were not close-fitted to prevent pest entry. Analysis reports for the food products were not available, and no internal laboratory was found. Additionally, the vehicle meant for transporting dairy products did not have an FSSAI license or registration. On-site milk testing, conducted with the Food Safety on Wheels vehicle, showed that sample parameters were within prescribed limits.
Supermarkets inspected
On June 21, the task force inspected supermarkets to ensure compliance with food safety regulations.
At D-Mart, Vanasthalipuram, the task force found that the FSSAI license number displayed on Nutriwala Brand food articles like Sprouts, Baby Corn, and Mushroom was inactive and expired. The supermarket voluntarily removed and discarded these articles on the spot. Additionally, SR Foods Vendor was found supplying Soya Paneer with an incorrect license. Damaged and expired goods were properly segregated and stored separately. Medical fitness certificates for food handlers and pest control records were available.
