Deputy CM reacts on students’ issues in Osmania University hostels

HYDERABAD: Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu ordered an inquiry into the alleged shortage of electricity and drinking water at Osmania University after social media reports, and officials found no interruption in power supply.

Osmania University Registrar issued Show Cause notices to University hostels’ Chief Warden regarding notice issued by him on closure of hostels in the month of May. Chief Warden also mentioned that there is shortage of water and power supply in hostels in that notice

In that Show Cause notice, Registrar mentioned that there is no such shortages exist within the University premises. For this misleading statements, a show-cause notice is served to Chief warden. And asked to give clarification on the same.

 

As some students of Ladies Hostel Complex spoke to Hyderabad Mail, they revealed that there is no electricity shortage in the hostel. But they mentioned, they are facing shortage of water supply. There is no power shortage in New Godavari, Maneru, Centenary, and some other hostels.

TSSPDCL reaction

Southern Power Distribution Company of TS Limited also released a notice regarding the power supply. “The notice given by Chief Warden of Osmania University in press that, due to shortage of electricity, messes and hostels are closed, which is directly misguiding the public,” said in notice. TSSPDCL also stated that, even in this heavy summer they supplied electricity 24×7 round the clock without any interruption by our company.

Regarding the same, Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka stated that “He mentioned that university students should not be concerned and can continue their studies without any worries. And noted that there is no requirement for students to leave. Vikramarka pointed out that officials have made an announcement this year, following the tradition of the previous government. He highlighted that the statement issued last year is still valid. He assured that the Congress government will consistently back students and the unemployed.”
