LB Nagar SOT’s major drug bust: seven peddlers arrested in four separate cases

LB Nagar SOT held peddler with 11kgs Ganja

HYDERABAD: In operations leading to multiple arrests and seizures earlier this week, the Special Operations Team (SOT) of LB Nagar & Maheshwaram zones, Rachakonda, nabbed (04) drug peddlers, (03) consumers – seized (1.5) kgs opium, (26) grams of heroin, (05) kgs of poppy straw, (01) container, (01) bike, (08) mobile phones.

In the first case, on Tuesday, the SOT of LB Nagar and Maheshwaram Zones, Rachakonda, identified the accused as Lal Babu Kumar, Mohammed Mustaq, Pappu Koswaha, and Aslam. Lal Babu Kumar and Mohammed Mustaq, both DJ lighting operators from Hyderabad, were apprehended with the 24 grams of heroin, while Aslam and Pappu Kuswaha remain absconding.

During police inquiry, Lal Babu Kumar confessed to procuring drugs from peddlers named Pappu Kuswaha and Aslam in Raxaul, Champaran District, Bihar, at Rs. 5,000 per gram, with a plan to sell them at Rs. 10,000 per gram. However, they were arrested by the police before they could do so, and both are now in judicial remand.

Case-II: Police arrested Carpenter with 1.5 kgs of opium

In Case II on the same day, (SOT) of LB Nagar Zone, along with Meerpet police, apprehended a drug peddler named Agreewath Santhosh Das, a carpenter from Rajasthan, and seized two mobile phones along with the 1.5 kgs of opium.

Santhosh Das, in his confession, revealed that he and his accomplice, Shiva, a truck driver from Rajasthan who is currently absconding, acquired the opium from Lokesh, who previously worked as truck driver in Madhya Pradesh. However, before they could sell the opium, the police arrested Santhosh Das. He is now being produced in court for judicial remand, while efforts are underway to apprehend the absconding accused, Shiva and Lokesh.

Four peddlers held; seized poppy straw, Ganja

In another operation, the SOT, LB Nagar Zone, along with Choutuppal police, arrested interstate drug peddler Jai Kishan, and local peddlers Hanuma Ram and Rajuram Vishnoi while transporting 5 kgs of poppy straw.

In a separate incident on Monday, the SOT of Maheshwaram Zone intercepted a Suzuki Burgman vehicle near Highway Bawarchi Hotel, under the limits of HayathNagar Police Station, and arrested Mothilal Balaji Singh, also known as Balaji. Here, the police recovered 11 kgs of Ganja, the Suzuki Burgman motorcycle, and a mobile phone from his possession.

All 11 suspects face charges under different sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. In response to these incidents, the Rachakonda Police have issued a public appeal, particularly to young people and students, to stay away from drugs and ganja, emphasizing the negative impacts on individuals and families. They have advised parents to closely supervise their children’s activities and to report any suspicious behavior to the authorities.
