Hyderabad: In a series of food safety violations, another customer has reported finding a safety pin in a biryani ordered from Mehfil Restaurant in Manikonda on June 29 (Saturday). This incident comes shortly after a previous complaint where bugs were discovered in a biryani from Mehfil’s Kukatpally branch.

The customer, @AnirudhActor, took to Twitter, tagging relevant officials to express his frustration. He posted, “Found a safety pin in @MehfilBiryani from #Hyderabad #Manikonda restaurant. #HyderabadFoodSafety #FoodSafety #TrendingNews. How irresponsible. @fssaiindia @foodsafetygov @hydcitypolice @foodsafetynews @KTRBRS @INCIndia.”

Hyderabad City Police replied to the post, stating, “Please WhatsApp Cyberabad police at 8712663061, as the mentioned location falls under their jurisdiction. @GHMCOnline.”

A few days earlier, another customer named Sai Teja had warned people to avoid ordering from Mehfil’s Kukatpally branch due to finding bugs in chicken pieces. He shared his dissatisfaction, mentioning his refund experience with Swiggy.

Meanwhile, a customer found a strand of hair in their chutney in a separate incident at Chutneys in AS Rao Nagar. Srikhande Umesh Kumar, Founder and President of Know Your Rights NGO, posted about the unpleasant experience on social media. He mentioned, “Found hair in the chutney at Chutneys, AS Rao Nagar, near Radhika, ECIL. The manager accepted the issue and replaced the dish, but it was still an unpleasant experience.”

Following Srikhande’s complaint, authorities took swift action. The Commissioner of Food Safety in Telangana fined Chutneys Rs. 5,000. Srikhande appreciated the authorities for their response and raised concerns about the TDS level of water served in the restaurant.

He tweeted, “I appreciate @AMOH01_KAPRA Garu for his quick response. Request @cfs_telangana to direct all FSOs to respond to customers’ issues when approached through calls and WhatsApp messages. @AFCGHMC Kindly inspect the premises and check the water TDS level.”

Srikhande also pointed out, “I would like to draw your attention to the Bisleri water bottle which I had purchased from Chutneys. TDS ratings were 80, 75 & 74 when checked at my home. Is it portable if the values are below 75?”
