Media baron Ramoji Rao’s final rites begin at Ramoji Film City

Hyderabad: The last journey of the media baron, Ramoji Rao began from his abode at Ramoji Film City on Sunday morning at 9am with Telangana state honors. Thousands of people, including politicians, actors, journalists and other employees have paid their last respects to Ramoji Rao at his residence. Ramoji Rao, the founder of Eenadu, Ramoji Film City, Margadarshi and others passed away on Saturday morning, while he was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Hyderabad. Ramoji Rao was 87.

Earlier on Saturday, several high profile leaders including, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Telugu Desam Party Chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Nirmala Sitharaman, Jana Sena Chief Pawan Kalyan, Actor Chiranjeevi, Director S S Rajamouli, Music composer MM Keeravani and others paid tributes to Ramoji Rao.

Ramoji Rao is a visionary, leaders react

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also reacted to the news of Ramoji Rao’s passing away and said, “The death of Mr. Ramoji Rao is very sad. He was a visionary who brought revolutionary changes in Indian media. His services left an indelible mark in the fields of cinema and journalism. Through his tireless efforts, he has set new standards for excellence in the worlds of media and entertainment. Ramoji Rao was very enthusiastic about the development of India. I was fortunate to have many opportunities to interact with him and benefit from his vast knowledge. My deepest condolences to his family, friends and countless fans at this time of sorrow. Telangana Chief Minister said, “Today, the death of leader, eminent industrialist and Padma Vibhushan awardee Cherukuri Ramoji Rao has caused a great shock. He is credited with adding credibility to Telugu journalism and adding value to the Telugu industrial sector. Without Ramojirao, the Telugu press and media sector will never be able to fill the gap. Praying to God to rest his soul in peace… My deepest condolences to the family members.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister designate Nara Chandrababu Naidu recalled his association with Ramoji Rao for the last four decades. He added that Ramoji Rao’s way of telling good is good and bad is bad, brought him closer to Naidu. Naidu was also seen holding the deathbed of Ramoji Rao during the final rites.
