Raidurg police book six riders in Knowledge City area

HYDERABAD: Hyderabad’s Knowledge City and T-Hub area have become hot spots for “daredevil” bikers performing dangerous stunts. On Saturday night, Raidurg police booked six riders and detained their bikes for executing risky maneuvers in the Knowledge City area. This trend has seen numerous riders congregating on weekends to film their stunts and upload them as reels on Instagram, taking advantage of the location’s modern architecture and vibrant lighting.

Raidurg Inspector of Police, Ch Venkanna, reported that around 67 riders have been booked for rash and negligent driving since March 2024 across six different cases. “These riders communicate on Instagram and gather on weekends,” Venkanna stated. “The area’s modern buildings and lighting make for impressive reels.” He added that most of the offenders are young, in their 20s.

The police have enlisted the help of the social media cell to monitor and identify such reels, allowing them to gather information and book cases against the riders. They are also tracking the number plates of bikes and cars involved in illegal racing. Many of these riders have Instagram handles such as Ajju Rider, Imran Rider, and RX100. A concerning observation is that many of them do not wear helmets or other protective gear while performing these dangerous stunts.

Police intensify monitoring on unauthorised bike racers

The police have emphasized the importance of safety and are urging the public to avoid such activities that not only endanger their lives but also pose significant risks to others. Recently, on June 1, Raidurgam police conducted a special drive to keep a check on unauthorized bike racers in Cyberabad and seized 50 motorcycles. Cases were booked against the bike owners and riders.

Upon receiving complaints from the general public, the Raidurg police conducted special drives at the T-HUB area, ITC Kohinoor, Knowledge Park area, and Sathva building, My Home Bhuja areas on night of June 1. They seized 50 bikes during these operations. The police continue to monitor social media platforms to identify and take action against those involved in such risky activities.

Authorities are urging young riders to prioritize safety and refrain from participating in illegal racing and stunts. They stress that these activities not only violate traffic laws but also pose serious threats to the safety of the riders and the general public. The police will continue to take stringent measures to ensure public safety and maintain order in these high-tech zones.
