Rachakonda SHE teams arrested 133miscreants in 15 days for harassing women
LB Nagar: Rachakonda SHE teams stepped up the enforcement against the miscreants who are harassing the women in the Rachakonda commissionerate limits. In its latest crackdown against the miscreants, Rachakonda police in the last 15 days arrested 133 miscreants including 49 minors.
Rachakonda police informed that Decoy teams were deployed at different hotspots like Bus Stands, Railway stations, Metro station, Vegetable markets, Educational institutions and other public spaces where the police suspect the higher incidence of harassments occur. The SHE teams who are in mufti were deployed in the above public spaces to catch the miscreants with evidence.
Revealing the data of complaints received through various means, Rachakonda SHE teams stated from April 16 to April 30 they have received 148 complaints from the women victims. Rachakonda police received the highest number of complaints – 98- directly followed by 38 complaints through social media and 17 through phone calls.
Moreover each of the complaints has been addressed and according to the severity accused are called for counseling and in others- cases have been booked. In eleven complaints criminal cases have been booked and in 92 complaints, petty cases were booked and further investigation is underway.
Revealing some of the important cases in which SHE teams ensured a FIR was registered Racahkonda police said, “In one case a Protection of children from sexual offenses(POCSO) was booked against an accused who misbehaved with a seven year old in Cherlapally. Going further into the details, The accused who was a neighbor saw the girl playing in front of the house and took her into his house and misbehaved with her. The girls came out of the house crying and informed about the wrongdoing of the accused. Subsequently the victim’s mother approached SHE team Kushaiguda who directed them to Cherlapally police station and ensured a POCSO case was registered against the accused.”
In the second case a woman was sexually exploited and blackmailed by the colleague. The victim approached the SHE team’s Vanasthalipuram and a case was booked against tech accused in Vanasthalipuram. In another case a single woman was harassed on social media. The accused took pictures of women from social media and morphed the same and circulated in social media defaming her character. Ibrahimpatam police booked a case and further investigation is underway.
Miscreants counseled in the presence of Parents
In an attempt to ensure that the miscreants won’t repeat the offenses all the members were called for counselling. And further counselled in the presence of their parents. On Saturday “Rachakonda women safety wing, SHE teams counselled the miscreants who were caught harassing adolescent girls and women at LB nagar Camp office. Around 133 miscreants including 39 minors who were caught by SHE teams were counselled in the presence of their parents,” said Rachakonda police in an official statement.
In addition to the enforcement, the Rachakonda police SHE teams were also involved in the awareness campaign. As a part of the same around 6600 women were educated on different laws specifically designed for women and their rights
