Rachakonda Police Nabs Two In Banned Cotton Seeds Smuggling

Secunderabad: Rachakonda police busted an illegal cotton seeds racket and arrested two men in connection with the smuggling on Friday. Earlier the police have arrested three men in connection with the same case.

The arrested were identified as Yerradoddi Nallapareddy Sathyapal Reddy and Annapureddy Malla Reddy. Manhunt is launched against another accused, Kondapu Naidu. Earlier, police have arrested Duggipudi Mar Reddy, Allam Vinod Kumar and Allam Mar Reddy.

With a tip-off, the Special operation team (SOT) Maheshwaram Zone team along with Madgul police apprehended three individuals at New Brahmanapalli Village, Madgul Mandal under the jurisdiction of Madgul Police Station.

While the investigation is under progress on Friday based on a tip-off provided by SOT Maheshwaram Zone Team, Madgul police apprehended two individuals namely Annapureddy Malla Reddy at Keshampet and Y.N Sathyapal Reddy at Shadnagar. The accused confessed that they were procuring banned BT-III loose cotton seeds without any valid license from Kondapu Naidu hailing from Karnataka.

The accused selling the banned cotton seeds to local farmers with a false promise of more yield and cheating the innocent farmers and gaining easy money. Rachakonda police have seized property worth of Rs. 35,00,000 including 1,000 KGs. of Banned BT-III loose cotton seeds, a car used for smuggling.

Rachakonda Police warned that the illegal sale of banned cotton seeds not only violates regulatory norms but also poses serious risks to the agricultural ecosystem and the livelihoods of farmers. Further police urged the public to remain vigilant and report any instances of illegal activities to the authorities, as collaborative efforts are crucial in maintaining the integrity.

The above arrests were made under the direct supervision of Dr. Tarun Joshi IPS, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda and the under guidance of K. Muralidhar, DCP-SOT and police personnel of SOT Maheshwaram Zone team and Madgul police. Further investigation is underway.
