Telangana Government sets precondition for film shootings and ticket price hikes

Precondition for Ticket hikes

HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy announced that filmmakers must produce awareness videos on drug abuse and cybercrime to receive permissions for film shootings and increased cinema ticket rates. This announcement came after the Chief Minister flagged off new vehicles for the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGNAB) and Telangana Cyber Security Bureau.

The Chief Minister thanked megastar Chiranjeevi for voluntarily making a video for a drug control campaign. He directed all cinema theatres in the state to screen these videos for free before the main feature.

In reply to CM Revanth Reddy’s tweet, Chiranjeevi Konidela replied “Thank you Sri @revanth_anumula garu
It is indeed my responsibility to propagate this important message to the general public 🙏 .” For shortfilm link check below tweet by Chiranjeevi Konidela.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the videos should be between 1.5 and 2 minutes long and feature stars from the movies for which permissions or ticket rate hikes are sought. He made this announcement while expressing disappointment over the lack of social responsibility shown by film personalities.

“When new films are released, filmmakers come to the government for GOs to increase ticket rates,” said Reddy. “However, they are not fulfilling their social responsibility to address social issues like cybercrimes and drug abuse.”

New rules for film industry

Reddy instructed officials to demand these awareness videos from film personalities who approach the government with requests. “No matter how big they are, if they come with a request, they should be asked to make these videos,” he added.

He also mentioned that this precondition should apply to permissions for film shootings, particularly around Hyderabad, under the jurisdictions of Cyberabad and Rachakonda Police Commissionerates.

Reddy called on the Information & Public Relations and Police departments to organize a meeting with film personalities and theatre management to present this government proposal. He plans to follow up with a meeting to explain the government’s stance and policy.

Reddy assured the Police Department of full support for effectively discharging its duties and praised the Cybercrime team for their efforts in curbing crimes. He voiced concern over the growing menace of drugs, which he said is ruining families and society.

“Drug addicts are committing crimes under the influence of Ganja (Cannabis),” said Reddy. “Narcotic drugs are the main reason for increasing violence against children.”

Reddy announced that the government would promote officers working effectively in drug control, with a Bill to be passed after a debate in the Assembly. He appealed to the youth to resist drug addiction and be resilient in facing problems and challenges.

The Chief Minister concluded by reiterating the film industry’s responsibility to give back to society and support efforts to combat drug abuse and cybercrime.
